ELIZABETH ECKELS
FROM THE ARTIST
Elizabeth Myrick Eckels is an American sculptor and painter, known for her passionate figurative works in clay, mixed media and bronze, as well as her energetic large paintings. She studied fine arts in her home state at the North Carolina School of the Arts and received her BFA as a scholarship recipient from Parsons School of Design in New York City. Elizabeth possesses a unique ability to bring passion, turbulence, energy and emotion to her sculptures through the twisting and turning of the human, animals and marine life. Her paintings exemplify the same energy, complimenting the movement and messages in her sculptures. Although she was affected greatly by losses in hurricane Helene and Milton in Tampa, as well as Katrina in New Orleans, she has turned these hardships into life lessons of perseverance and overcoming, offering a message of hope, joy and vulnerability in her artwork to all.
