All Around You

This painting is a visual rendering of a poem I wrote about living in Hong Kong as an American. The painting explores how light is always present even in the darkest moments and uses straight lines and seemingly unformed chaos to explore loss grief pain and hope. The colors and texture are layered to draw the viewer into the world on canvas and offer spaces of visual rest to achieve a sense of calm amid all the movement and complexity.
