Kimberly Smith

Kimberly Smith began her creative life as an illustrator, but fiber had other plans. Surrounded by needlepoint, knitting, and embroidery from childhood, she eventually made room for both the drawing table and fiber — and the fun continues. Today her (painted) canvases burst with imagination and abstraction, bringing to life nature’s forms and fantastical creatures rendered in silk, metallics, and the occasional sparkly thing. Each piece is meticulously stitched,layered with glass beads, buttons, and embellishments that catch the light just so. As Kimberly puts it, “It’s needlepoint on steroids.”
